The Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) leads the effort to grow Murdoch's by building strong customer loyalty, connecting with customers across all channels, and strengthening our brand. This role requires a practical, creative leader who puts customers first, uses data to make smart decisions, and encourages teams to work together and adapt to change. The CMO helps ensure Murdoch's is the top choice for rural and ranch lifestyles by inspiring others and delivering measurable business results in a fast-changing retail world.
This position is located at the Home Office in Bozeman, MT.
As a Murdoch's Team Member in this role, you will …
  • Inspire and develop high-performing marketing and eCommerce teams that are empowered to achieve exceptional results.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, experimentation, and continuous improvement within the marketing and eCommerce teams using our strong technology foundation.
  • Develop and execute integrated marketing strategies (brand, digital, CRM, in-store, social, PR) that drive sales, customer acquisition, retention, and lifetime value.
  • Lead Murdoch's eCommerce strategy, including website merchandising and all associated marketing campaigns.
  • Align with Purchasing and Operations team to drive a passion for our products & services that reaches our customer.
  • Lead the evolution of Murdoch's customer data, ensuring personalized, data-driven marketing and a seamless omnichannel customer experience.
  • Use customer insights, analytics, and market trends to inform strategy, optimize spend, and demonstrate marketing's impact on business results.
  • Champion Murdoch's brand, ensuring authentic storytelling that resonates with rural and ranch communities and differentiates us in the marketplace.
  • Work collaboratively throughout Murdoch's as a key member of the Leadership Team with a keen understanding of our total business and how to enable its growth.
  • Represent the voice of the customer internally, advocating for customer-centric decision-making across the organization.
  • Oversee marketing budget, resource allocation, and vendor relationships to maximize value and ensure best-in-class execution.
  • Other responsibilities based on the needs of the business.
Requirements

  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and team-building skills with ability to inspire a diverse team to drive positive change.
  • Proven success leading digital marketing transformation, including customer data projects and advanced analytics.
  • Track record of leveraging AI, automation, and data science to drive marketing performance and customer engagement.
  • Experience managing complex vendor ecosystems (agencies, tech platforms, media, etc.).
  • Deep understanding of omnichannel retail, including eCommerce, loyalty programs, and in-store experience.
  • Creative, entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for rural/ranch culture and community engagement.
  • 10+ years marketing experience, 5+ in retail marketing.
