What Are We Looking For
We’re looking for an experienced Account Director
to lead a high-profile, integrated sponsorship and experiential marketing portfolio for General Motors
. This role sits at the center of strategy, execution, and client leadership — owning day-to-day client relationships while guiding internal teams and inter-agency partners to deliver best-in-class brand experiences across Canada.
You’ll be responsible for translating GM’s business and brand objectives into impactful experiential programs, managing complex, multi-workstream initiatives, and ensuring flawless execution across events, activations, and integrated campaigns. HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL DO (RESPONSIBILITIES)
Client & Account Leadership
- Serve as the primary day-to-day client lead for General Motors, managing relationships, expectations, and delivery across multiple programs.
- Act as a trusted advisor, identifying opportunities to evolve and grow GM’s experiential and sponsorship strategy.
- Lead client communications, status updates, presentations, and post-program reporting with confidence and clarity.
- Navigate and lead collaboration across inter-agency teams, ensuring alignment, accountability, and shared success.
Strategy & Program Leadership
- Lead the development and execution of integrated experiential, event, and sponsorship programs aligned to GM’s brand and business objectives.
- Guide teams in translating strategy into compelling, consumer-first experiences across live, hybrid, and omnichannel touchpoints.
- Identify insights, performance learnings, and optimization opportunities to continuously improve program effectiveness.
Team & Cross-Functional Leadership
- Lead and mentor internal account and project teams, fostering strong collaboration, accountability, and professional development.
- Partner closely with creative, production, strategy, and external agency partners to deliver cohesive, on-strategy work.
- Proactively troubleshoot challenges, manage risk, and ensure solutions are implemented quickly and effectively.
Financial & Operational Management
- Own budget development, management, and reconciliation across large-scale experiential programs.
- Ensure programs are delivered on time, on budget, and in accordance with agency processes and standards.
- Oversee resourcing plans, timelines, and operational workflows across concurrent initiatives.
On-Site Leadership
- Travel as needed to support key programs and events, acting as the senior agency lead on the ground.
- Oversee execution in real time, ensuring quality, client confidence, and team alignment.
HERE’S WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR (QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
)
- 8+ years of experience in experiential marketing, sponsorship, events, or integrated marketing, ideally within an agency environment.
- Proven experience leading large, complex programs for major brands (automotive experience is an asset, but not required).
- Strong background managing inter-agency teams and multiple external partners.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain senior-level client relationships.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and presentation skills.
- Highly organized, calm under pressure, and effective in fast-paced environments.
- Strong financial acumen, including budget creation, management, and reconciliation.
- Strategic mindset paired with hands-on execution experience.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
