Johnson's Locust Hall Farm

Marketing & Communications Coordinator

Johnsons Locust Hall Farm – Job Description

Location: Jobstown, NJ

Type: Full-Time, Hybrid (on-farm + remote)

About Johnsons Locust Hall Farm

Johnsons Locust Hall Farm is a family-owned, working farm offering seasonal pick-your-own experiences, a farm market, and distinctive on-farm events. Our goal is simple: grow great food, host meaningful experiences, and invite people onto the farm to create lasting memories.

We’re looking for a hands-on Marketing & Communications Coordinator who can tell our story clearly, promote our seasonal offerings, and help turn farm experiences into must-visit destinations.

This role requires regular on-farm presence and close collaboration with the farm team.

The Role

The Marketing & Communications Coordinator is responsible for planning and executing marketing efforts that drive:

  • Attendance for pick-your-own seasons
  • Bookings for weddings and on-farm events
  • Awareness of the farm as a regional and out-of-state destination

This is a do-the-work role — not an agency manager position.

Core Responsibilities

1. Seasonal Marketing & Campaigns

Plan and execute clear, timely marketing campaigns for:

  • Pick-Your-Own experiences (especially strawberries and fall harvests)
  • Farm market and seasonal products
  • Weddings, Evenings on the Farm, and Farm-to-Table Dinners
  • Public and private on-farm events

Ensure marketing is simple, easy to understand, and focused on driving visits and bookings.

2. Content Creation & Storytelling

  • Capture high-quality photo and video content on the farm (people, events, daily farm life)
  • Create short-form video and social content that highlights:
  • Family experiences
  • Seasonal moments
  • Food, events, and atmosphere
  • Maintain a consistent brand voice and visual style

3. Social Media, Email & Website Support

  • Manage and grow the farm’s social media presence
  • Manage and grow the farm’s email list
  • Create seasonal email campaigns tied to harvest windows and booking periods
  • Update website content and landing pages to improve clarity, urgency, and conversions

4. Event & Destination Marketing

  • Support marketing for weddings, Evening on the Farm events, and Farm-to-Table Dinners
  • Position the farm as a destination experience, not just a venue
  • Use photography, storytelling, and testimonials to drive inquiries and bookings

5. Regional & Out-of-State Audience Growth

Help attract visitors beyond the immediate local area, including:

  • Philadelphia & suburban Pennsylvania
  • New York & NYC
  • Central New Jersey (Trenton area)
  • NJ coastal areas (Long Beach Island, Seaside, and nearby shore towns)

Build awareness of the farm as an easy day-trip or weekend destination.

6. Community & Partnerships

  • Build relationships with local vendors, tourism groups, and media
  • Support partnerships and collaborations that expand reach and visibility

Success Indicators (KPIs)

Success in this role will be measured by

  • Increased attendance during pick-your-own seasons
  • Growth in inquiries and bookings for weddings and on-farm events
  • Growth in email subscribers and engagement
  • Improved clarity and performance of key website pages
  • Increased engagement from regional and out-of-state audiences

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, or related field
  • Proven experience in marketing, content creation, or communications
  • Strong photo and video skills (iPhone or camera; editing experience preferred)
  • Experience managing social media and email campaigns
  • Highly organized, creative, and comfortable working independently
  • Interest in agriculture, food, events, or family-owned businesses is a plus

Position Details

  • Hybrid role with regular on-farm presence
  • (Includes being on the farm during peak weekends and events)
  • Salary: $40,000 annually (commensurate with experience)
  • Benefits: Health benefits included
  • Opportunity to grow with a long-standing, values-driven family farm
