Job Summary

The Associate Merchandiser supports the Ecommerce Merchandising team by running day-to-day sample operations, maintaining the seasonal merchandising calendar, and coordinating site merchandising activities. This entry-level role blends operational precision (sample & calendar management) with basic analysis and cross-functional communication to keep product pages live, launch-ready, and optimized for conversion. You'll enable faster shoots and launches, reduce errors and stock issues, and surface actionable insights that improve online performance.

Associate Responsibilities

  • Support the Ecommerce Merchandising team by managing sample processes, the seasonal merchandising calendar, and site-level coordination.
  • Own end-to-end sample program: intake, QC, labeling/barcoding, storage, distribution, returns, repair/cleaning, and disposition.
  • Maintain accurate sample inventory and condition records so merchants, creative, and cross-functional partners always know what's available.
  • Maintain the seasonal photography shot list and coordinate sample pass-offs and scheduling with Creative.
  • Set up and maintain the seasonal merchandising calendar (launch dates, promotional windows, price activity).
  • Analyze sales, site KPIs, and consumer behavior to identify opportunities and inform merchandising decisions.
  • Monitor marketplace and competitive trends to surface inspiration and improvements for the online and omnichannel experience.
  • Mine customer feedback (product reviews, ratings, and customer-service insights) to identify on-site and product optimization opportunities.
  • Partner with Site Merchandising to conduct regular site audits and quality assurance checks.
  • Manage the product copy process with external partners: briefs, review cycles, and final approvals.
  • Build product and brand expertise — develop a deep understanding of Carhartt products, core consumers, and seasonal needs.
  • Proactively seek process improvements and development opportunities to grow the business and your own skills.

Required Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Merchandising or Related Field; or equivalent years of related work experience may be considered in lieu of degree

Required Skills & Experience

  • 1 or more years of Ecommerce experience
  • Apparel, retail or consumer products experience
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Ability and desire to work at both the tactical/operational and strategic levels
  • Strong quantitative/analytical skills and mindset; general understanding of retail math
  • Detail oriented
  • Strong understanding and passion for product, merchandising, store and website experiences
  • Team player with exceptional collaboration and communication skills
  • General product knowledge of apparel a plus

Physical Requirements And Working Conditions

  • Office environment; cubicle setting. Extended periods of time sitting, standing, typing on a computer is required
  • Light Lifting (10-15 lbs)
  • Travel may be required up to 10%
  • After Hours and Weekend Hours if necessary
  • This position has a Hybrid location: Associate will work on-site regularly as needed for work activities.
