The Trade Marketing Manager is responsible for supporting the Sales and Trade teams by enabling sales execution and leveraging data to drive in-market implementation of 4Ps initiatives. Key areas of responsibility include; guiding the Trade and Sales Directors on identifying 4Ps gaps, ensuring Retail Sales Teams are following through on closing the gaps, and mining insights for continuous improvement in our go-to-market strategies. The position is focused on driving in-market activity that leads to improved sales and share.
Your responsibilities
- Own the 4P strategy across multiple brands & assist in developing category/brand trade decks, focusing on using facts and data to create a winning growth stories for both Essential Home and their customers.
- Supports the Trade Marketing Team with in-depth data analysis of strengths and weaknesses of current market strategies and 4P tactics. Uncovers new brand and category building opportunities via the analysis
- Understands and applies Customer, Consumer, and Industry insights using multiple data sources: Nielsen, Customer POS, market research data, custom studies.
- Provides brand and category insights to support annual sales planning process, shapes 4P recommendations for Key Customers’ plans
- Understands national strategic framework and 4P pillars to drill down to the Customer level and understand how these strategies are working in-market. This includes using data and working closely with key account manager to make recommendations on opportunities for customizing national strategies for Key Customers.
- Works cross-functionally internally within the sales & operations planning to ensure alignment on delivering the 4Ps seamlessly
- Provides analysis of competitive promotion plans/activity and recommends defensive promotional strategies.
- Experience working with P&L’s is preferred
- Strong Excel & PowerPoint skills (formulas, pivot tables, chart creation)
- Measures performance and impact of initiatives.
- Communicates results clearly and effectively across the business using storytelling
The experience we're looking for
- University degree
- 4+ Years Sales, Brand marketing, or other Business Operations preferred
- Knowledge of consumer-packaged goods or retail industry an asset
- Ability to demonstrate strong analytical skills and using data to build a sell story
- Ability to independently conduct in-depth data analysis, develop own hypotheses, and then convert the data into insights to present strong, persuasive selling stories.
- Knowledge/ understanding of Syndicated Data (eg Nielsen) preferred
- Computer proficient (Microsoft Office, Nielsen/IRI)
- Curious, inquisitive, and open-minded with a drive to uncover deep insights.
- Independent sense of urgency; self-driven, and always willing to learn
- Good interpersonal and time management skills
- Enjoys working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
