Job Title: Principal Backend Architect – Ecommerce Platforms (SAP Commerce Cloud)

Location: Scarborough ,Ontario

Duration: 6 Months

Introduction

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Backend Architect for Ecommerce Platforms with expertise in SAP Commerce Cloud. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and managing backend architecture for scalable and secure ecommerce solutions.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Extensive experience in ecommerce platforms, including SAP Commerce Cloud, Magento, Mirakl, Punchouts, etc.
• Expert knowledge of backend technologies and cloud platforms such as Azure, Google Cloud, or AWS.
• Proficiency in containerization technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, and related tools.
• Strong understanding of architectural patterns, REST, GraphQL, and event-driven architecture.
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools like AWS CloudWatch, ELK Stack, OpenTelemetry, etc.
• Strong competence in programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, and frameworks like SpringBoot, ReactJS.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Educated to Degree level in Computer Science or equivalent with 7 years of relevant industry experience.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with APM, distributed tracing techniques, and related tools like Dynatrace, Datadog, New Relic.
• Knowledge of diagramming tools and methodologies such as Miro, Diagrams.net, Figjam, Mermaid.js.
• Advocate for strong quality controls using industry-leading tools like Junit, SonarCloud, Jmeter, Webdriver.io.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Implement and manage backend architectural artifacts and platform-level systems.
• Contribute to and maintain Architecture Decision Records across the organization.
• Drive best-in-class backend strategies and support backend operational practices.
• Enable the team to adhere to backend engineering policies, procedures, and standards.
• Support disaster resiliency, recovery, and availability planning capabilities.
• Engage in knowledge transfer, training, and mentoring of backend practices across the engineering organization.
